Langata Rd, Opposite Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, Kenya.
Deliverance Church International Langata was planted on MARCH 14TH 1993 in our current grounds. The original structure was a mere 38 foot round tent, which I had bought and shipped from USA, when we returned home in November 1990, after my undergraduate studies there. It was indeed a very humble beginning and I still remember my first sermon, to a handful of people, was derived from Zechariah 4:1 10 and focused on verse 10 for who has despised the day of small things?
The small Tent was filled up within the first year and in one of my trips to the United States I was able to buy the middle section of the tent and, which we used to extend the Church. After the second year, the tent became too small again and we came up with another strategy. This time we extended the sanctuary using timber and iron sheets, and it was at this stage that idea of constructing a more permanent structure was conceived.
God has given me the grace to keep our members motivated toward the completion of the Sanctuary. Our church has been structured in a way that accommodates every category and we are strong on relationships. We believe that a church is a family and great care should be extended to every member of the church family.
A little over two years ago, after realizing that the participation in Home Cell Churches was averaging 150 MEMBERS only, we restructured our church services schedules to factor in a time for lifeteam group meeting between our two services.
This has worked well and established meaningful relationships amongst the DCIL members. Most of the groups have taken the fellowship beyond the church and plan things together and even visit each other. The lifeteam group currently meets for 45 minutes every Sunday, but we are looking into the possibility of increasing the meeting time next year.
